Casillero del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon is a lively ruby red with brilliant hues. The aroma is rich with fruits, cherries, and plums. Initially the taste shows structure with strong tannins and cassis, helped along with plentiful black currants. Concentrated and rich, the wine ends elegantly balanced and juicy. It's a great match with red meats, herby dishes and mature cheeses.
After fermentation in stainless stell, 60% of the wine is aged in medium toast, American oak for 8 months, while 40% continues in stainless steel for the same amount of time.
Since its very first vintage, Casillero Del Diablo has become one of the most popular wines in Chile, and currently has presence in more than 135 countries. The associated soils are riverbench and hillside.
Max's October 2014 Pick
This wonderful 100% Cabernet Sauvignon which comes out of Central Valley, Chile and more specifically the grapes are sourced from the benchland, hillside, and riverbench vineyards. The wine offers beautiful aromas of cherries, black currant, and dark plums. On the palate, you experience dark cherries and spice, leaving the wine so beautifully balanced that it would entice the devil himself! Coincidentally enough, the translation of casillero del diablo is the Devil's Locker, with that I couldn't think of a better wine to enjoy with any fall dinner with Halloween coming up quick fast, and in a hurry!
