The 7 Deadly Zins is a very popular wine that spends 12 months in both French and American oak. Sexy and endearing, it offers a deep ruby/purple color, is full-bodied, and is endowed with corpulent flavors and abundant berry fruit, pepper and spice notes. Drink this seductive, full throttle, classic Zinfandel over the next several years. The varietals of this wine are Zinfandel with Petite Sirah and Petite Verdot blended in from the Lodi area of California.
The vineyards are irrigated by the Mokelumne River, which carries crystal-clear water from the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Whether it be their outlandish brands and packaging or their quirky personalities, Michael and David are definitely on a stage of their own and this wine showcases just that.
“Michael” and “David” Phillips are brothers whose family has farmed fruits and vegetables in the Lodi region since the 1850s, cultivating wine grapes for nearly a century. Farming with future generations in mind, Michael David Winery has adopted some of the most progressive sustainable farming practices in the state. All 750 acres of the family’s vineyards are third party certified and the state's first per ton bonus was issued for contracted growers to follow in the family’s foot steps. Starting with the 2011 vintage, 100% of the Lodi grown fruit crushed at Michael David Winery was certified sustainable.
